Ghion Peace Reconciliation and Development Association (GPRDA) organized a two-day dialogue session that gathered more than 38 public narrative influencers, including poets, lineage narrators, and storytellers, in Aykel town from April 25-26, 2024. The dialogue, part of the LPI-funded ‘Peace-Building for Social Cohesion and Lasting Peace’ project, aimed to identify public discourses and narratives that fuel conflict between the Amhara and Qimant communities and to reorient public discourse influencers to play a positive role in fostering social cohesion and lasting peace between these communities. The two-day dialogue session was successful in identifying key narratives and reaching a consensus among the discourse influencers to improve stereotypical language use and play a constructive role within their spheres of influence.
