GPRDA Convenes Stakeholders for Project Closure Workshop

Ghion Peace Reconciliation and Development Association (GPRDA) has held a project closure workshop among key stakeholders to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the WHH funded project on October 30, 2025. The workshop provided an important space for participants to develop a shared understanding of the project’s outcomes and to offer feedback that will help shape future interventions. The project, implemented from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025, delivered strong results across its core objectives despite operating in a fragile and rapidly changing context.

At the event, GPRDA staff reported that during the implementation period, the project made significant progress in strengthening local peacebuilding mechanisms and advancing women’s participation in conflict prevention and resolution. Local peacebuilding institutions were strengthened, women’s engagement in peacebuilding increased, joint actions were carried out with women’s institutions, and stakeholder awareness of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) was raised.

The project delivered a wide range of capacity building initiatives, including training representatives of informal institutions, stakeholders on women’s inclusion, and women engaged in peacebuilding efforts. Five radio programs were produced and broadcast, helping to extend the project’s reach far beyond direct participants.

One of the key lessons highlighted during the workshop was the importance of close collaboration with local stakeholders, including government offices and informal institutions. Their involvement was essential to ensuring smooth implementation in a fragile environment. Even as many organizations scaled down or withdrew from the region due to security concerns, the project team maintained continuous communication, demonstrated flexibility, and applied proactive risk management. This approach enabled the successful completion of all planned activities and showed that consistent delivery is possible even in volatile settings.

Stakeholders expressed appreciation for the project’s contributions to revitalizing informal institutions, strengthening women’s roles in peacebuilding, and enhancing GBV prevention and response capacities. The insights gathered during the workshop will help guide future programming aimed at fostering resilience, inclusion, and sustainable peace in conflict affected areas.
